Daniel Tong

Daniel Tong is a Kinesiologist with a passion for Powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting. He has dedicated his career to mastering evidence-based exercise and rehabilitation techniques. With his expertise, Daniel provides valuable guidance to clients of all experience levels.

He excels at working with beginners to help them build a strong foundation in the gym. For more experienced athletes, he focuses on identifying and addressing weaknesses and imbalances that can limit performance, particularly in key lifts like the squat, bench press, and deadlift.

Daniel also specializes in injury rehabilitation and pre-habilitation with extensive experience working with clients who have been in car accidents.  His training focuses on mobility, strength, and appropriately programmed progressive overload. As a result many of his clients have not only recovered fully but emerged stronger and healthier than before their injuries.

Outside of his professional work, Daniel is a coffee enthusiast and enjoys running and snowboarding.

Pat Wu

Even before his formal education in Kinesiology, Pat has always believed in the value of strength training for sport performance, self confidence, and well being. He began training friends and family since high school, and his passion has only increased over time.

As a trainer, Pat brings a unique blend of Master’s level formal education, field experience in various settings, and years of personal experience. He has worked with many different populations, including varsity level athletes, seniors, rehab clients, and youth.

Pat attended his Bachelors of Kinesiology at UBC, and continued his education in a Masters of Kinesiology while working as a graduate strength coach for UBC men’s basketball. This experience has provided him an enhanced ability to provide long term strength and health progression and programming for individuals and groups.

As an athlete, Pat has competed on the international level as a cheerleader, and on the Provincial level as a Olympic weightlifter.

Victor Ngo

Victor has worked with a wide range of clientele at the Richmond Olympic Oval and at more than 5 other gyms before co-founding APEX The Gym. He is passionate about helping others because he has gone though the journey of transformation himself. When he first started working out he found himself struggling with flexibility issues, pain, and hitting plateaus.

To change this, Victor took it upon himself to learn proper technique, nutrition, and programming. He has spent countless hours attending workshops and mentorships to further his knowledge and level of education as a coach. Victor pushes himself by competing in both Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting, and has experience introducing new lifters to the sport.

As a Personal Trainer, Victor has experience with clients of all levels. He takes satisfaction in coaching his clients to move and feel better, and be able to do something they never thought was possible. His mission is to educate and empower each of his clients to take control of their own body.

Betsy Chan

Betsy enjoys training for both the physical and mental health benefits. She believes that working out can be used as a tool to take care of yourself mentally: “It helps set a positive tone for me everyday so that I can bring that energy to everything else I do, and everyone I work with and meet”.

As a coach in a gym setting, she trains athletes at all levels and ages. She truly believes everyone has the potential to improve and achieve any goals they wish to accomplish – they just need to be taught the fundamentals and given the right tools to succeed.

On the field as an Athletic Therapist she has experience working with a wide range of teams including: Field Hockey, Rowing, Soccer, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Badminton, and Wrestling.
